I was introduced to Richard, owner of Talos Art Gallery and Talos Foundry by my friend, the sculptor Patrick Bull in 2023. Richard invited me to be part of the summer exhibition at his gallery near Calne, Wiltshire in the summer of 2024. I exhibited six drawings originally, three detailed pen drawings inspired by the Forest of Dean and three ink and brush drawings.
Upon visiting the show I was so pleased to see my work in prominent positions in the gallery. My three pen drawings were right in front of you as you entered the beautiful converted barns. My ink and brush works were in a room to the left, given plenty of breathing space next to one of Richard’s own impressive sculptures. After a few weeks I was delighted to learn that the three ink and brush drawings sold. I took three more ink and brush drawings to be displayed that I had framed ready for a different show, it seemed a shame to leave the wall space empty. One of the three new drawings sold before the show ended, four drawings in total. It was such a confidence boost and confirmation that moving in a new direction with looser more atmospheric work was a good decision.
Richard was so kind and generous with his time, I was so grateful to be included in such a great show. The gardens at Talos Art Gallery were a highlight for me as a lover of flowers, the roses in particular were stunning. As Richard is a sculptor himself you could really see his passion come alive in the work featured throughout the grounds.
Richard invited me to take part in the 2025 summer exhibition and as I’d loved the experience previously it was an instant yes. I had four new ink and brush drawings the same size as the previous year as well as two slightly larger drawings on display. I attended an informal private view and was pleased to see my work had been given the same positions as last year. The diversity of the work on show was wonderful and the gardens were again an absolute delight. I was pleased to have sold work again, one small work and one slightly larger.
Exhibiting at Talos Art Gallery for the past two years has been a highlight for me and I look forward to hopefully exhibiting there in 2026.
